It's okay to love and to be loved.

I'm not down with PBS anymore.

Today was the last straw. I turned off PBS in the middle of the show Evelyn was watching this morning. I can't take blatant propaganda that has nothing to do with our children.

During the last week of October the show "Arthur" had a character each day that had cancer. "Arthur" was attempting to educate our children on what cancer is. In light of the NFL wearing pink and over-the-top cancer awareness (crap) I was put off that even a children's show on PBS would lambaste me with their "educational" topics that are inappropriate for children.

Why is it inappropriate? Because it is attempting to manufacture real life experiences that are important, monumental, life changing and meaningful...but, in REAL life. Evie was playing with Naomi in the back of the car last Sunday. We overheard Evie ask Naomi, "Oh, is you baby sick? Does she have cancer?" Seriously, Evelyn does not even need to know about cancer because she nor anyone close in her life has it. Why don't we just throw in AIDS as a topic on a children's show and we'll have nicely adjusted children who concern themselves at the age of 3 1/2 with the "buzz" topics of today's culture.

But, if that isn't enough for me, today on "Sid the Science Kid" the topic was vaccination. Seriously? The premise was that Sid's grandma, a nurse, was visiting school today to give the kids a flu vaccination. The dialog that ensued was ridiculous. Can't we just leave our children alone! PBS, please don't sell out children's programming and keep the propaganda out!
