It's okay to love and to be loved.

Dinner

We went over to some friends house for supper tonight. Between the two families there are five children. Evie, age 5, Naomi and Paige, 3, Britta and Isaiah, One and a half. Lately, both families have been feeling a bit crazed with the energy level, crabbiness level and unending needs of our children.

Tonight was awesome. There were two babes watching the moms cook in the kitchen from the iron bars of a safety gate at the stairs. Four little eyes begging to get just one more cracker. Moans, crying, tears, "Momma" being shouted, pacifiers bobbling at the tip of the lips, momma's telling daddy's to please get their child and distract them for a few more minutes until supper is served.

Food was spilled, eyes were rolling, food was determined as, "Yucky", and "Too spicy" and threats were made. Dogs were eating from children's hands, people were slipping on a recently cleaned wood floor, fights were interrupted, spankings were threatened, and clothes were removed for "ballet practice" (children, of course). It was music to my ears the entire time.

Cheeks got rosy from running and jumping on beds. Growling sounds were made from the designated, "Monster!" and toys were being shuffled from room to room. As we attempted to converse with our friends over dinner and chocolate cake more seemed to be said from our eyes than from our mouths. This made us get the giggles...bad. So bad that I cried and almost peed my pants. It was one thing after another and I loved it. Life doesn't get much better than this.

Oh, I can so relate to this. You are brave to bring your families together like that. I'm glad you were able to keep a sense of humor and enjoy it all.

I can so relate to this. You're brave to try bringing together another family with young children for mealtime. Fun to read about you laughing about it. (=
