Deeper Still

A long, long time ago, a little girl woke up one morning to a world that was broken and full of heart break. That little girl had no understanding of this. She knew love, she knew security and she knew happiness. Once she woke up, her world was not what she had known and she did what she had to to continue on.

This little girl grew up to be a woman who was guarded. Her heart had experienced loss and brokenness without warning, without understanding and without a way to pick-up the pieces. Without knowing it, she decided deep in her heart, not to be vulnerable again and not to be left without a way to handle whatever comes her way.

All the while, when the little girl grew and grew someone was with her through it all. She did not know who until she got older, but once she learned of Him, she was able to understand a little more and to trust a little more and to know love when she saw it in person. But, she discovered, that no matter how much she is loved, she still holds herself back. In her mind she believed, since she was a little girl, that it was not worth letting someone in. The past hurt was overbearing and took a mighty toll.

The truth she knows now is able to set her free if only she would believe it. The little girl inside of her was and is taken care of. The little girl was held tight, rocked gently and loved deeply since she was born. It might not have happened in a way she could understand at the time, but knows now that it did happen and that she was not alone when she cried herself to sleep at night.

The love that she now knows was guiding and caring for her has given her a man to continue that love in a way that she can physically see, hear and cling to with all her heart. Her heart that once was broken and missing many pieces has been put together with tenderness, love and un-imaginable commitment.

My desire for that woman with the memories of that little girl helpless and hurting deep in her heart is that she would grieve, she would let go and she would be held captive no more. Life is full of surprises both good and bad. One cannot fully protect themselves from devastation or prepare themselves for when they encounter love. It is not our job to know what is to come, but to find comfort in all situations from a source that is secure, trustworthy and ever present; God Almighty. Once love is understood from the source it can be understood here on earth. Let down the walls, open up and love.
