Strawberry picking!

We had planned to go berry picking with my sister, mom and cousins yesterday morning. The weather wasn't the best so we changed plans and passed on the strawberries. When I picked Steve up from the airport and told him we didn't go strawberry picking her was a bit disappointed because he was hoping to make some delicious freezer jam this week.
I remembered that two years ago some friends of mine took our kids to a berry field, which happened to be on our way home from the cities. I told Steve we could go there and see if they are open and if so, then we could harvest berries together as a family.
We found Kathleen's gardens and came home with great memories and 15# of strawberries. Enough to make thirty jars of jam, have some whole berries to freeze, and two quarts to eat this week. Wow! We loved Kathleen and her family. We were instructed to sample from the vine at any time. They even showed us their farm complete with the rooster that entertained us while picking, new barn kittens, goats, turkeys, ducks, quail, pheasants and rabbits!

If you live near Gaylord, MN you need to stop before the 4th of July! You will love that you did!
