It's okay to love and to be loved.

Look who is four years old!

In the early morning hours of January 30th, 2006 a little girl was born. She arrived at 6:53 am. We gave her the name Evelyn Rachel Friese.

Here is what Steve wrote during that time:
Well, I know that I just posted "Two Weeks to the Rest of Our Lives", but God thought we should just get on with the show. Evelyn Rachel was born at 6:53 am on January 30, 2006. The story unfolds as follows:

Saturday night the 28th, Anna had begun feeling some light contractions that had very little consistency. She took a nice warm bath to relax. Later, she was reading in one of our birth books that taking a bath when you are less than 4 cm dialated (she had been at 3 cm since the Tues. before) actually stops labor progression...oops! Well, Sunday we went about our normal activities of church and so on. I had been invited by my friend Seth to play a little Xbox with some other kids from our church. When I got home Anna stated that her contractions were back and that the rest time was shortening up pretty consistently. We hung around for the evening just kind of relaxing and keeping tabs on the strength and time of each contraction. We went to bed around 10 pm kind of thinking that it was definitely going to happen soon. At midnight Anna was definitely starting to feel that we should be heading in to Everett to the hospital. At that point the contractions were about 4 to 5 minutes apart and becoming increasingly more bothersome. We decided to wait it out a bit longer in the comfort of our own home and bed. At 2 am it was evident that it was time. We packed a few last minute things and took off for the hospital. Everything was going really well. Anna was doing fantastic and was very polite and enthusiastic with all of the nurses that we were dealing with. In fact, so much so that they were kind of disbelieving our claims to how far along we thought we were. Regardless, we were admitted and taken to our room. Things progressed pretty fast from that point. Around 4:30 am Anna's water broke on it's own and it was off to the races! Like I said before, Anna was phenomenal. She was able to go without any epidural or pain meds of any sort. At 6:53 am came our little Evelyn! She was 8 lbs 10 oz and 22 in long. A pretty big girl especially considering she was a week early. She looked beautiful and I loved watching the miracle of birth before my very eyes. It was amazing!!! God truly is the great creator.
Since then, we have all been doing well. Evelyn is a very good baby and has been feeding, sleeping, and digesting well. Anna is healing fairly quickly and we are now back home. It feels great!
