Needless to say no one went to church on the day after Christmas and only Evelyn made it to the Christmas Eve service from our immediate family. I had been in the house for three solid days. We weren't able to visit good neighbors that were in town from Denver and no one was able to come visit us. Food was left untouched. Buckets were emptied of cookies to be used by someone's bedside. Laughter was heard throughout the house as we attempted to figure out who would be next to be hit...it was only a matter of hours until we would know for sure! Hah! It will be a Christmas to remember fondly. Only four of the seventeen family members gathered in Parker made it through this last week without illness.
Cousin Amy had made Evelyn a sign that read, "Get Well Soon, Evelyn". We hung it up for her as she slept on the living room couch while the rest of us who were able ate our Christmas meal. I had secretly hoped that a cousin would wish Evie well, but I never imagined a sign being made for her. It melted my heart! What a great thing love is and how wonderful it is when it is felt.
Thank you Jesus for loving us and coming to this earth as a tiny baby born in a dirty stable.
